I Took a Personality Test… and This Is What I Found Out

Have you ever wondered why you are the way you are? Why you get excited about new ideas, why you sometimes need time to yourself, or why you instantly click with some people but not others?

About five years ago, I took a personality test just out of curiosity. I wasn't expecting it to tell me anything particularly life-changing…

But my result was Campaigner (ENFP) — and I have to say, quite a lot of it felt surprisingly accurate!

Campaigners are described as curious, enthusiastic, creative and full of ideas. They tend to see possibilities everywhere and enjoy meeting people, trying new things and exploring what's next.

And the “lots of ideas” part definitely made me smile. 😂 I can get excited about a new idea very quickly — sometimes before I've even finished the last one!

But what I found interesting is that I took this test five years ago, and I'm still thinking about it now. Perhaps these little insights into ourselves can be useful at different points in our lives, especially when we're thinking about a next chapter.

I'm not suggesting that a personality test can tell you what you should do with your life. It can't. We're all much more complicated than four letters on a screen.

But I do think there's something valuable about taking a moment to stop and think about who you are, what makes you tick, what energises you and what you might want more — or less — of in your life.

And sometimes that's exactly what we need when we're standing at the beginning of a new chapter.

Maybe you're thinking about changing career. Maybe your children have grown up and you're wondering, “What's next for me?” Or maybe you've simply reached a point where you want to understand yourself a little better.
